This software update program is for the customer-owned product listed above (the “affected product”), and is provided only on acceptance of the agreement listed below. - • This service supplies software that can be used to update the D780 camera “C” firmware to version 1.11. Before proceeding, select [Firmware version] in the camera [SETUP MENU] and check the camera firmware version. You will not need to download or install this update if the firmware listed above is already installed.
- • This update includes all changes made in previous updates.
- • A card reader and computer are required for the firmware update.
- • Read the information below before proceeding.

- • Changed the default values for the following settings displayed when connecting wirelessly:
- - Encryption keys
- - The password displayed after the camera's default settings are restored

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.03 to 1.10
- • Added support for the iOS edition of NX MobileAir. Use NX MobileAir version 1.0.4 or later.
- • Fixed the following issues:
- - The camera sometimes stopped responding if [Auto] was selected for [PHOTO SHOOTING MENU] > [Set Picture Control].
- - Subject tracking AF could not be used when [1920x1080; 100p] or [1920x1080; 120p] was selected for [Frame size/frame rate] in the movie shooting menu.
- - The camera was unable to focus using autofocus if an AI AF VR Zoom-Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED lens was attached and the lens vibration reduction switch was turned on and off.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.02 to 1.03
- • Fixed an issue that resulted in live view being over- or under-exposed when the exposure was in fact correctly adjusted; this would occur during live view when a non-CPU lenses was mounted on the camera with:
- - [On] selected for Custom Setting d9 ([Exposure preview (LV)]),
- - the mode dial rotated to M (manual), and
- - aperture adjusted so that the exposure indicator showed optimal exposure at values other than f/5.6.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.01 to 1.02
- • Fixed the following issues:
- - Flash photos taken using TTL flash control and a non-CPU lens would not be correctly exposed.
- - Pressing the playback zoom in button to display a preview would cancel changes to [Set Picture Control] > [Hue] made using [NEF (RAW) processing] in the [RETOUCH MENU].

- Updating the Camera Firmware

- Download the following firmware file to your computer.
Please make sure you have the downloaded firmware file on your computer.
• D780_0111.bin (the camera firmware)
- Using a card reader, copy “D780_0111.bin” to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
Note: Be sure to copy the firmware to the root (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera will not recognize the new firmware if it is placed in a folder under the root directory.
- Insert the memory card into Slot 1 on the camera and turn the camera on.
- Select [Firmware version] in the [SETUP MENU] and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
- Once the update is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.
Note: Updates can be performed for you by a Nikon-authorized service representative.
