About the N-Log LUT
-
The N-Log LUT is a 3D lookup table for use when color grading video footage shot with Nikon N-Log gamma.
- Changes from Version 1.07 to 2.00
-
- • Added the following five N-Log–compatible “cube”-format LUT files.
- - Technical LUT (One file)
The LUTs for N-Log, which were previously provided for each individual camera, have been consolidated into a single file and optimized for video production based on color science developed by RED (Red Digital Cinema, LLC). The Technical LUT converts the N-Log color space to the Rec.709 standard, making it suitable for general viewing.
- - Creative LUT (Four files)
33-grid LUTs that allow the color of the LUTs provided by RED to be reproduced in N-Log.
- ▹ FILM BIAS
This LUT pursues traditional “filminess.” It features natural skin tones and highlights with a golden glow for a cinematic effect.
- ▹ FILM BIAS BLEACH BYPASS
This LUT simulates the bleach bypass (silver retention) film processing technique. It is characterized by high contrast and low saturation, making the image more dramatic and emphasizing realism.
- ▹ FILM BIAS OFFSET
This LUT recreates a vintage film look with warm tones and split toning. It imparts a stylish and elegant touch to your footage that is perfect for artistic scenes and landscape photography.
- ▹ ACHROMIC
This low-contrast monochrome LUT emphasizes the textures and shapes of the subject. It provides a soft, classic look that allows artistic expression while focusing on detail.
Note that the previous version (Version 1.07) of N-Log 3D LUTs for Z6III, Zf, Z9, Z8, Z7II, Z6II, D780, Z7, and Z6 can be downloaded from here.

- Changes from Previous Versions
-
Changes from Version 1.06 to 1.07
- • Added an N-Log–compatible “cube”-format 3D LUT file for the Z6III.
|
Changes from Version 1.05 to 1.06
- • Added an N-Log–compatible “cube”-format 3D LUT file for the Z f.
|
Changes from Version 1.04 to 1.05
- • Added an N-Log–compatible “cube”-format 3D LUT file for the Z 8.
|
Changes from Version 1.03 to 1.04
- • Added cube-format 3D LUTs (identified by file names ending in “V02-00”) compatible with the Z 9’s N-Log curve. Color reproduction, shadows, and highlights have been revised to ease the process of editing footage using video editing software.
- • These Z 9 N-Log 3D LUTs (cube files with names ending in “V02-00”) help address:
- - “tone jumps” and the like visible across what should otherwise be smooth tone transitions, and
- - overly-saturated colors visible in shots of high-chroma light sources or of subjects lit by the same.
Note that these LUTs may sometimes produce results slightly brighter than those of earlier Z 9 N-Log 3D LUTs (cube files with names ending in “V01-00”). Thus, for example, when applied to footage shot at high exposures or that has been brightened during editing, or when used as replacement 3D LUTs in projects previously color-graded using earlier Z 9 N-Log 3D LUTs (cube files with names ending in “V01-00”), the Z 9 N-Log 3D LUTs added with the current release (cube files with names ending in “V02-00”) may result in highlights that are “washed out” (over-exposed).
The earlier Z 9 N-Log 3D LUTs are included in the current download and can still be used if desired.
